Preschool concert

Hana had her first ever preschool concert last weekend. She was totally thrilled to dress up for the occasion. She went with an all pink sparkly number.  Unfortunately, she didn't sing any of the songs and spent the last song picking her nose on stage. Yup, that's my girl!

Dinner table funnies

We were eating a normal family dinner the other night and as usual, Hana didn't want to eat her vegetables. She would put one in her mouth and then chew for 10  mins but not actually swallow it.  Eli was listening to me try to convince her to swallow when he chimes in " Mom, don't even bother, she's being irrational".  Brent and I both burst out laughing and Eli followed up with "What does irrational mean anyways?".  Not bad considering he was totally winging it!

Fall activities

This Fall the kids are trying out some new activities. Eli started Timbits hockey. He has his last round of evaluations this weekend and then he will be placed on a team for the season. Why they need four 1 hour 15 min sessions to evaluate 5 year olds is beside me but Eli seems to be enjoying it.  I am not a hockey fan but I have to admit they are pretty cute out there and man, do they ever work up a sweat!

Hana had her first Ballet class tonight. We decided to go with the classes at our community hall rather than a dance studio.  The 9 month commitment at a studio seemed like a lot for a 3 year old.  Her class is 1/2 hr once per week.  Again, it was cuteness overload.

Laptop lunches

It's official, I'm moving into the packing lunch for my kid stage.  Eli is starting full day kindergarten in less than a month and that means he's taking lunch to school.  I've tried a few bento style lunch boxes over the last few years and never really found anything that I loved.  They always leaked after a while.  Until now that is.  I am loving the Laptop Lunches boxes.

Basically, it's one box with little boxes inside.  A couple of them have lids and a couple don't, plus a teeny one for dip or salad dressing.  I have used it for my own lunch as well as Eli's snacks for summer camp and have had no leaks.  Plus, it's way more fun to fill a lunch box like this than baggies and a paper bag.  I like it so much, I ordered one for each of us.

A tip for us Canadians:  The shipping at the laptop lunches site is crazy expensive. I found them on the indigo website and I qualified for free shipping, plus the base price was less.  There were less choices (only two I believe) and none of the fancy carrying cases, but if you are looking for the basic model, Indigo is definitely the place to buy them.

Happy shopping!

It's an app

Why am I only discovering the ipad blogger app now? Hopefully this will make blogging easier as it was a nightmare on my android phone.  I miss blogging.  It's such a great way to document the years and they seem to be going by much too quickly. I don't want to forget the little things.

The first half of this year has been busy. I think I will just list some of the biggies since I will never catch up on blogging them.

- Australia in March for my sisters wedding.
- Eli finished preschool and turned 5
- Brandon and Meghann's wedding in Osoyoos
- I started a little etsy shop for my sewing hobby
- impromptu kitchen renovations
- Brent and I are officially mid-thirties now
- Brent is spending a lot of time on the road for work in a new role
- health issues. I am back to work this week after some time off due to a pulmonary embolism. Perhaps I will blog about this on its own.  I'm ok and feeling much better!

Things to look forward to:
- Hana turns 3 and starts preschool in Sept
- Eli starts kindergarten and will be doing a full day program
- I am starting a 4 day/ week schedule at work on the fall
- Timbits hockey for Eli
- a new kitchen island
- Mexico!

Big Day

There have been lots of changes over at our place.  Today being the one that I was most nervous about.  The kids started at new childcare today, their first out of home, full time child care experience.  I'm happy to report, that everything went great.  Phew!  Of course, I have to thank my lovely mother in law for getting us to this point.  She got us past naps and potty training and made the transition from me being a stay at home mom to full time working mom easy on all of us.  I'm so thankful that she was able to help us out while she could. xoxo

I've been back to work for 9 months now.  I can't believe it! I am loving my job and glad that I found somewhere that gives me the flexibility that I need.  Speaking of which, I'm going to be working from home on Mondays starting next week.  I'm pretty excited about that.  I think it will be strange to be at home without the kids here but totally awesome at the same time.

We have a fun year ahead of us and I'm excited for 2013.  Hopefully, more blog posts from me than last year too.
