How did that happen?
I snuck a few shots of Eli the other day when he didn't know I was taking photos. He looks so grown up in these pictures. I can totally picture him when he's 16. It's like he turned 3 and all of a sudden got so big. It's just going by in a flash. I so love this kid.

Just the girls
Today is Friday and that means that Eli goes to the dayhome today. I think one of the best things I've done since deciding to stay home with the kids, is to put Eli at the dayhome 1 day/week. I started doing that when he was 15 months old and it has worked out great. I get a day off and he gets to play with other kids all day long. Now that Hana is here, it means that we get one day together - just us girls.
Eli has had a "tent" set up in the living room for the last week. It's just a few blankets thrown between two chairs. He's made it very clear that it's his tent and Hana is not allowed to go in there. He's got about 30 vehicles stashed in there and he shuts the door and she's not allowed near it. Well, today when we got home from dropping off Eli at the dayhome, I put Hana down and she made a beeline for the tent. She was thrilled to play in there. Hopefully Eli doesn't notice things are moved around when he gets home!

She crawls
Hana has reached so many milestones in the last few weeks. She's waving and clapping, she says Hi,Mama and Dada. She just started crawling and it's just the cutest thing. In pure Hana style she crawls to get something that she totally wants but isn't taking off around the house - maybe that's yet to come. She's also standing, she pulls herself up on anything that she can. She loves to be on her feet and is so proud of herself when she is on her feet. She likes us to practice walking with her and she just laughs and smiles when we hold her hands and let her take steps. She even lets go of the furniture for a second or two and freestands. I can see that she is getting more and more brave on her feet every day. I have a feeling the baby gates are going to have to be put up this week!

Happy Father's Day
Happy Father's Day to my Dad and to Brent. I woke up this morning to an almost empty house. Brent and Eli went camping for the night so there is no breakfast in bed to make today. Hopefully we'll have time to celebrate a little bit in between all of the activities we have planned for the day.

Happy 3rd Birthday Eli
We celebrated Eli's 3rd birthday this weekend with a pirate themed party. He had loads of fun with family and friends. This year he really understood what happens at a birthday party. I had fun planning his birthday and seeing him enjoy it!
In keeping with tradition, here are 10 things about Eli at 3 years old:
1. He's quite a ham, making funny faces, saying funny things just to get a laugh and he talks all day long.
2. He loves to run, jump, kick the ball - any physical activity is always a hit.
3. He knows his alphabet and can recognize most letters, except for l, when he sees an l in a word he calls it a one, so the word hello would be "h-e- two one's-o". As much as I try to explain to him that it's an l he does not believe me and insists that it's a number one.
4. He is drawn to the bad guys. He loves to be Darth Vader and points out the bad guys on TV and in movies. When he pretends, he always is the bad guy and makes one of us be the good guy.
5. His favorite toy is his sandbox and loves moving all the sand around with his excavator.
6. He doesn't like to be alone and says he is scared when he is.
7. Eli loves to dress up. He'll be anyone from Darth Vader to Rapunzel.
8. Wresting with his Dad is one his most favorite things. He has mastered the atomic bum drop, leg lock and splashing for the 1-2-3 count. He has to win and is a very sore loser.
9. He still pretty much ignores Hana but does pretend to be her alot. He wants to have the same attention as her. He can be protective of her though if someone else wants to hold or is looking at her. He does like helping to teach her things, like waving and standing but always points out how much bigger he is than her.
10. He's starting to pick up on other people's emotions. He asks why other people are sad, crying or scared. Today I sighed about something and he asked me why I was frustrated - which I was! I didn't even know that he knew that word but I was glad that he at least noticed.

Mickey Mouse here we come!
Yay! It's finally here. We leave tomorrow for our trip to Disneyland. Brent, Eli and I are all going on vacation and Hana is staying home with Nana and Papa. I'm feeling sad to leave her but I know she's in great hands and will be happier sticking to her routine than the craziness that is Disneyland. I can't wait to see Eli's reaction to riding on an airplane, all the rides, characters and shows. This will be my 5th trip to Disneyland. It truly is the happiest place on earth. I'm pumped!
I'm bring my beco "baby" carrier with us. Of all my early baby purchases, this might be my most favorite. I've gotten so much use out of it. It holds up to 40lbs so Eli still fits in it. I think it will come in handy for long ride lines. Eli really likes riding in it and it will save our arms because he's heavy (36lbs).
